after p.e., ran as fast as i could to langara station, boarded skytrain to vancouver city centre. there in downtown i tried to get a gift for my secret santa that they would like, to no avail. :/
candy aisle, lotta candy for the movie, then haneureum mart for a box of chelsea cookies!! after went to bunch of clothing stores, an army surplus place called camouflage, and then got to the theatre.
movie theatre food is wayyy too overpriced. :/
watched life of pi, actually pretty close to the book, except that skipped some parts in plot and killed a dorado before the flying fish.
gettin some gifts for christmas, trying to find what i need and want like a sling pack. useful things would also be a pair of maple fg's some sidi cycling stickers, and perhaps a phone? nothing to wasteful (except a videogame :D)
realized how many people play computer games and im so behind since i use my time for skating, youtube and school

T2-B3

my 500m skating time is now a 47.86 while the top guys had a 46.6! I can get this time! i just need to focus on more technique ( less shoulder and body movement) , less pivoting (slowing down on the corners) and entering and exiting the corners with more crossovers. training today, working hard and  going competitively against my 17 yr old training partner who I am as fast as but he has more strength.

now only one track in the lower mainland exists :(

T1-B30

My business has gone slow, no teachers have bought my coffee. I have inferred that the reason the teachers have not bought coffee is due to the school policy :1
1) school has coffee for 50c each, so teachers have their own coffee machines
2)thus they already have great coffee in their own classrooms.
I was trying to make profit off the fact that the school coffee wasn't very high quality, so starbucks coffee would be better quality and at a cheap price point. But since the teachers weren't in demand for better coffee since they had it already, my business hasn't been met by my main consumers :(
this has been a learning experience, from the Ms. Bains encounter about my business, to working and hiring, to supply and demand, I've learned more than I could have ever if everything went right :)

I was also wondering if you could also tell the other teachers that I'm selling coffee for charity and all proceeds go to the SPCA.
THANK YOU

T1-20

20TH BLOG IS EPIC!!!!
Today everything was as normal, but in English oddly instead of the essay test, WE had Star Wars instead!!! :D
Watched A New Hope, sadly a bunch of people never watched or knew anything about Star Wars :(
Our substitute P.E. teacher told us that if we ran under 3 minutes for a 800m, we would get a honourable mention. Seeing the opportunity, I ran in 2:36 and got the honourable mention thing. Now to see if it is really true...

Feel like I didn't speak much, they did much of the speaking and I felt they didn't do a very good job. After school went skating in Poco, tired but worked hard.
Feelin pumped for my meet next saturday!!

T1-B16

Sorry havent had time to blog, lotta studying and stuff. Today in science learned more about DNA and we'll be harvesting strawberry DNA on thursday.  Ms.May broke hip agin, slipped in hallway will require surgery.
NPO idea
starbucks coffee at school, sell pike place roast and baked goods.
need more than 1 month to accomplish 1000 goal, too steep for what services as 9th graders without drivers can offer.
HVZ
in vancouver there is a nerf community group. We can organize admission $25 for ammunition for nerf blasters, and donation fee. the group members all have nerf blasters, so with numerous members we can make a fair bit for charity.
Was the NPO idea spawned by my HVZ idea? please reply!

Track cycling, and HvZ T1-B11

Today in Metalworks began working the lathe and making my balancing man. Lotta burr the ends of my drill holes, required the belt grinder. After in Math and then Applied Skills. our computers got closed, and Richard got really creeped out on an online comic. Played some nice post rock, and searchin for more HvZ stuff. After in S.S. talked about the English in Britain and whatnot. Sleepovers with world leaders.
After in track cycling we did multiple sprint workouts, and I nearly hit the rail ( the wall at the really top) after
I swung up from the bottom of the track after a sprint
I nearly hit the top wall ( the white part)
BACK TO HVZ
decide the only chances for the 5 day games are: Christmas Break and Spring Break.
we need to plan a meeting with the synergy 8 to discuss about the game

Tuesday, 18 September 2012

HvZ is the reality, T1-B10

Today in Science safety quiz, after in English Mr. Hauck was sick we had a substitute. She was really boring (unlike Mr. Malloff, which i'll tell in a later time). Finally in P.E. we had flag football
BACK TO HVZ
I have decided instead of a sponsor, we could create a online website where people could donate money according to how long we survive in the game.
ALSO many other people in the school are interested in the game for them. to play they pay $15 50% goes to charity. The rest is for the cost of ammunition for the player.
Lets get this organized!!

Track cycling and audio senses, T1-B9

Today in Metalworks we began to mark out the lines for our balancing men. Nearly missed my photo take. After in Applied skills we watched a show about a man who had a type of echolocation. S.S. Daniel Z. had to do a quiz only by himself because he suggested to do a quiz and Mr. Martin only made him do it.
After in track cycling we did a whistle drill, which is like a sprint drill only when the coach blows the whistle.
BACK TO HVZ
Now, I know your are going to tell me about the no gun policy at the school. That the school has strict discipline for this kind of stuff. Well, hundreds of universities across 6 continents have HvZ games. It's just how the guns are used is the problem.
My plan for this charity event will not affect any students as this will be held during Spring Break. Also the guns will not be able to be used in anyway during normal classes.

Abbotsford ice T1-B8

Today in Assembly Mr.Hunter showed us Rolling in The Deep by Adele. He was trying to tell us the meaning of the song was that to keep calm if you are in distress and to control your anger. After in skating practice, we did 3 x 5 minute skates at approx 39 km/hr, and 2 x 2 minute skates at about 40 km/hr. My legs are wiped after 3 consecutive days of training.
BACK TO HVZ
Here's my planning for this event:
Zombies will be the gr 8 synergy class
Humans will be gr 9 synergy
the game should be during a break of at least 5 days.
equipment needed:
15 sets of ammo packs = $225
30 nerf guns = $600
= $825
divided by 60 people
= 13.75 for every synergy student to pay.
the equipment may be used year after year
so more
SPONSORSHIP
For Human resistance
$5 for every hour we survive
if one player survives the whole game they would have gotten $600 to charity
2 players survive= $1200 to charity
Now to find = a sponsor
I will begin to find people to donate to charity

Korean skating workout, T1-B7

Today in Metalworks we began to mark the measurements for our balancing men. After, in Applied Skills we watched a video about brain tricks. And while we're still in this theme, heres a brain trick picture http://media.techeblog.com/images/wolverine_or_batman.jpg
After school, I had skating out in Poco. My Korean coach pushed us so hard, We had to do two 3k intervals, as well as two 1.5k sprints and various other torturous training methods.
BACK TO HvZ
heres a website about HvZ http://humansvszombies.org/about
and the rules of HvZ (the most commonly played version, Goucher style) http://humansvszombies.org/rules
how to organize a game http://wiki.humansvszombies.org/index.php/The_HvZ_Game_Guide
We could get people to pledge us because we could play for a couple of days during a break ( Spring Break or Christmas) and for how long we survive the game, they could pledge us $5 for every hour.
If the School says that the guns arent safe, we could perhaps give a nerf gun as a present to one of the Principal's children. This will show that the guns are just toys.

please take this into perspective Mr.Olson. This would perhaps even make our school known for such an activity and our fundraising idea. We could get into the news!!!

Track cyclin!! T1-B6

Today in Science we had a scavenger hunt to show us various parts of the super lab. Mr. Shieh also showed us a bucket of fetal pigs. After, in English we were making six word stories. His favorite was For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn. Finally in P.E. we had the 6 lap run. Then after school I went track cycling and did a type of training called take a half lap.
Discovered a ame called HvZ. They could do this at the school during Spring Break for charities (and perhaps Buskerfest?)
Heres a video of a game http://vimeo.com/24232620

Heavy metal and bad english, T1-B5

Today right when I walked into school I found 95 bucks!! Sweet! But then I realized it was Benny's school fees. Crap. I decided to go and give it to Benny when I saw him and instead right when I walked into the cafeteria. He sprinted right past me, presumably realizing that he left his 95 bucks. I yelled at him that I had his school fees. He immediately thanked me and said that he owed me. Anyways, in Metalworks we had a test about the drill press. After the test we had to file down our strips of metal to begin making our balancing man. After, in Applied Skills we all played various songs on our laptops. Melissa was listening to a heavy metal band called Slipknot while I was listening to a Korean violinist named JunCurryAhn. Finally, in S.S. we  were all telling Curtis to improve his English as he said Socials as shoshals. We were teaching him various tongue twisters to get him to get the right pronunciation on the words.

Bad lies and fixie bikes, T1-B4

Today was another day but intensely satisfying.  In the morning it was the same, Mr.Shieh talking about
Science Fair, and Ms. Werner explained about conjugations for verbs. It was English that was really cool because we had to each tell 2 truths and one lie. I told Mr. Hauck about me going to the velodrome and he told me to talk with him about fixie bike stuff. We all were really bad at the lies because everybody knew what the lies were because we all knew each other. Finally after school more track cycling! Yay!

Traffic for 2 hours... T1-B3

Today in Metalworks, Ms. Tycho taught us how to operate the drill press. Later, in Math we did some square numbers. After in Applied skills we made our synergy websites. Finally we had S.S. and already we have another project. It's only the first week! Then I went to speedskating practice out in Abbotsford. A two hour drive because some idiot was driving 30 km/h on the highway. Oh well. And another day of training and school. Break tomorrow! (or not)

Thursday, 6 September 2012

Mr. Hauck is awesome!!! T1-B2

Today in first block we had Mr.Shieh for Science. Pretty funny guy he was. We ended up playing a Bingo game where Mason had to tell a clean joke for me to win. He ended up telling a actually good Chuck Norris joke and I got my prize which turned out to be a freezie. Later, I got to French and somehow they decided to switch the teachers around and instead of getting Ms. Chuaqui, I got Ms. Werner. It was a ridiculous change, as nobody knew about it until we got into our seats. I had to completely relabel all my French stuff to Werner!! So then we had lunch and after lunch was English. Mr. Hauck was awesome!! He got everyone to give themselves a hand gesture for attendance. While he was doing the attendance everyone was laughing and he was a really cool guy. I also saw a bunch of fixie bike posters in his room. Does he do fixie riding?
Finally, we had a capture the flag game in P.E. It was a uninspiring game, because nobody wanted to get tagged.
Later, I'll be going to my speedskating practice out in PoCo!! And thats my day!!

Wednesday, 5 September 2012

summer blog!! T1-B1

This summer has been a load of training for skating, as well as many activities like track cycling, and going around Vancouver and loads of restaurants to try.
During the summer I participated in two speedskating camps, one out in Ridge Meadows and one across the border in Tacoma. At the Ridge Meadows camp, a Korean coach who travelled from U.S. came to coach us over on ice technique, strength training, and off ice dryland. Later, I travelled down to Tacoma with a couple of skater buddies to train more with the Korean coach. It was really tough training, with an hour of both on ice and dryland training everyday.
Also, during the summer I went track cycling at the Burnaby Velodrome. The instructor taught us about the track, bike riding technique, and various bike riding skills on the velodrome.
Moreover, during the summer I went to various speedskating dryland sessions in Port Coquitlam and Burnaby. But other than training I went to the library, and did a bit of gaming.

And thats my summer in a flash!
